Looks like a Yucca (pronounced yuck-a). Desert plant that gets a tall shoot of white flowers in the summer.
It was strange to find. A huge patch of them growing in the middle of the woods. They had strange curly "hairs" coming out of them.Everything else is dead because it's winter, but these were nice and green and appeared to be thriving.
