The Confederate national anthem

Confederate Nicknames

I've only heard a few of these. I will try them out on people when I get back to work on monday.

So the union soldiers busted on the rebels about their ratty clothes

A pardon

The union gave these to confederate soldiers to excuse them for shooting at them. This one comes from the wars end.

Paper article describing the capture of the Confederate President

Look for the post containing the artists rendition of him being captured in women's clothing.

Jefferson Davis captured

He was captured in a disguise trying to evade the union troops.

Confederate Battle Flag: (Sorry I forgot the unit)

The victory or death thing goes back to long before the civil war.

This was the best part of the museum

The picture is terrible because of reflections on the glass, but this flag was captured in battle. The guy that captured it then wrote his name and unit on it.

It's hard to tell, but he's a New Yorker. (Of course it was a New Yorker that had to commit what amounts to the ultimate sign of military disrespect. ) Maybe this is why southerners appear to hate New Yorkers more than all other forms of Yankees.

The only Native American general of the civil war

I never knew that indians had a civil war while we were having a civil war?

A letter from a confederate soldier to his dad

Total defeat was not that long after this letter was written. You would think he would welcome any help he could get to avoid losing the war.

J.H. Morgan's twin pistols

This is the guy that led his troops as far north as any Confederates ever made it during the war. (All the way to ohio)

Commander Anderson's gear

The double barreled revolver

I had no idea anything like this existed, maybe it will come up in trivial pursuit one day.

The double barreled revolver

See the post with the card describing this strange gun.

Early Confederate weaponry

Using pointy sticks may have contributed to their downfall

Civil war weaponry

One of the many cannons found around Richmond

Made right in Richmond at the Tredegar ironworks

We also visited the ironworks but photography was not allowed there. It was interesting standing right on the spot where at least half of the confederate heavy weaponry was made.

Mercedes C230 Sport

So your probably wondering about the car. It is a 2007 Mercedes C230
Sport, 22,600 miles, completely loaded with every option plus extras
added. It was previously owned by Nascar driver Rusty Wallaces crew
chief here in Mooresville, NC. He traded it in to get the one with the
bigger engine. Pricewise it was much less than my Jeep and comparable
in price to a 2005 used Toyota Tacoma we looked at. Beck will have fun
in it.

Beck's new car

I sold the Jeep and Beck got a new car.

Melons

We finally pulled a few good melons out of the garden!

Horses in the river

We stopped for lunch and were suprised by a group of 20 horses and
riders that were out for the day.

Fishing with Gary

Took a mental health day from work today and did an 8 mile fishing
paddle with my neighbor. Day was beautiful to start but a huge storm
came up on us 1/2 mile from the takeout and we got drenched. Still a
great day away from work tho.

Where's Waldo?

That's not Waldo, just some guy pooping in the forest.

Chanse spooning Jason

Like any good boy scout, Chanse learned to spoon his fellow camper for
warmth :)

Chanse built his own shelter

He went for his Boy Scout Wildernessbadge this weekend.
